Mad Man Stabs Two Policemen in Lagos

2014-07-31-12-39-23

Two policemen were stabbed yesterday in Alakija area of Lagos metropolis as they tried to drive an insane woman away from the premises of a popular pentecostal church.

According to an eyewitness, who did not want to be named, “trouble started when the woman was standing in front of the church and policemen deployed to the area attempted to evict her.

“Suddenly, a madman, who was watching what was going on, went to meet the policemen ostensibly to stop them.

“The policemen left the woman and confronted the insane man. They started beating him with their batons. The madman, who was with a stick started flogging the policemen.

“Suddenly, the madman brought out a broken bottle from his bag and stabbed the two policemen, who were later rushed to Navy Town Hospital by church members and onlookers.

“News got to other policemen attached to the church that their colleagues had been stabbed by the madman and they reinforced and began to look for the madman, whom they found at Alakija Bus-stop.

“The five policemen surrounded the madman and tried to overpower him and after much struggle, they tied him up with a rope and bundled him into their van and took him back to the church for interrogation.”

He said the policemen later saw a man taking pictures and tried to collect his phone from him but he identified himself as a soldier and they let him go.

Unbelievable!!!!!Mother whose son lay seriously ill in hospital claims nurse asked 'is he dead yet?'

article-0-2017EBD000000578-142_308x185

A young mother claims hospital staff were at fault for her son almost dying - with one nurse even asking 'is he dead yet?'

Louise Huart says her and her baby boy, Keegan-James, 'are lucky to be here' after they both survived a battle for life through the birth process.

Her newborn son had suffered severe blood and fluid loss and contracted suspected sepsis during the delivery.

The 22-year-old from Bridlington, East Yorkshire, claims midwives at Scarborough General Hospital, where Keegan-James was delivered, should have realised he was in a life-threatening condition and ordered an emergency caesarean earlier.

After being transferred to Hull Women and Children’s Hospital after the birth, she said nurses told her that a member of staff from Scarborough had called to see if her baby 'was dead yet'.

The allegation was refuted by a hospital spokesperson, who said there was 'no evidence' the 'wholly unacceptable' comment was made by its staff.

She said: 'What happened to us was absolutely appalling. We are both so lucky to be here.'

Ms Huart was rushed to the hospital in Scarborough on May 13 by her partner, Leo Parker, 23, as her contractions fell to just two minutes apart and she received gas and air, pethidine and an epidural.

When her waters broke at 3.30am, they were thick with meconium, a sign that Keegan-James could be in distress.
Despite a monitor showing her son’s heart rate was dipping, she claims a doctor who attended to her said the baby was fine.

She had to have her epidural topped up twice, but by 7.30am her contractions had stopped completely.

'I thought he had just given up - it was heart-breaking.'
Finally, after being encouraged to deliver her child naturally for two hours without contractions, she headed for a caesarean section at 10.30am.

After she received another spinal injection, she had an asthma attack and fell unconscious.

'I’ve had asthma since I was a child but I don’t use inhalers and I don’t even go to reviews.'

She met her son for the first time after 39 hours after they were both transferred to Hull Women and Children’s Hospital.

She said: 'For the nine days we were there, staff in Hull were fantastic.

'On the day we were discharged, one of the nurses told me someone from Scarborough had called to see if Keegan-James was "dead yet".

'Obviously, they hadn’t expected him to survive.'

A spokesperson for York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Scarborough Hospital, denied a staff member had made the comment.

Charles Novia lists 10 things wrong with Dorobucci Video + Don Jazzy replies him

Film maker Charles Novia is a man who never lets any hot topics in the entertainment world pass him without airing his opinion and as expected he had so much to say about the newly-released Dorobucci video. He listed 10 things wrong with it. According to him, it's a "Great song, hit song. But the video wasn't all that IMO." Below are his tweets:

(1) Cinematography was cool. Concept was skewed. Video only sizzled at the beginning when Don Jazzy had his bit. The Head Honcho. However...

(2) Because it's an ensemble song, to shoot an ensemble video requires more than what was given. The dysfunction started from the locale

(3) A song composed and hitting all nooks in Nigeria gets its video shot in South Africa. The organic steam of the track got lost in the vid

(4) The vid lacked the energy and originality of a Nigerian earthy dance visual. The SA dancers were just glib. That beat is unique to Naija

(5) There was a lack of charisma too in the ensemble segments. Only IDJA and Tiwa had screen presence. Others looked overwhelmed.

(6) Then, like that same house in Enugu they shoot those Osuofia movies over n over, the house in the Doro vid did look like the one P2 used?

(7) Or maybe it was bc the crowding of girls on the patio looked like the 'Testimony' concept? An overused concept though. Anyway...

(8) It was a good visual effort 4 a fantastic audio hit. But it cld have been better. Maybe a Sesan or Clarence could have interpreted better

(9) Just my thoughts. But anyday, I doff my hat for Don Jazzy's musical ingenuity. 1of the greatest producers ever in Naija's music history

(10) Total score for Doro video (over 10 in each category): concept: 4, cinematography: 9, interpretation: 5 originality: 4, choreography: 4

He also added. "And my opinion is basically my opinion. I nor force am for your throat. All said, go watch the 'Dorobucci' video and support Naija music"

Don Jazzy's reaction.

"Points taken Bo$$. We ll definitely use them to make future projects better. Thanks a lot. #BeBetter #Mavin #Naija"

This guy never cease to amaze me.one of the coolest guys in the entertainment industry.matured response. Don baba Jay

Ebola: 59 persons under watch •Passengers who flew with dead victim to be screened •Hospital where victim died closed

2014-07-29 07.19.09

59 contacts with the dead Liberian, who was infected with Ebola Virus disease, had been identified and now under watch, while 20 had been physically screened.

This was disclosed at a joint ministerial press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health, in Lagos, on Monday.

At the briefing, addressed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, it was also affirmed that no Nigerian had been infected by the dreaded disease.

The airline that flew him to Nigeria, according to the state government, had, however, not yet provided the flight manifest.

The state government called for calm, assuring that its collaborative efforts with the Federal Government were enough to ensure that the disease did not spread.

Idris added that health authorities were being very pro-active about the detection of the Ebola virus in the Liberian who was on his way to Calabar, Cross River State, for a conference, by ensuring that all contacts were being actively followed.

He said part of the measures taken after the death of the Liberian was the demobilisation of the private hospital where he was admitted and elimination of primary source of infection, adding that the decontamination process in all affected areas had commenced.

He added that the corpse of the victim had since been cremated, and the ash awaiting further directives from the Liberian Embassy.

He commended the role of the management of the hospital and its ability to detect a high-risk patient within 24 hours.

“Adhering strictly to World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, the body of the deceased patient was decontaminated using 10 per cent Sodium Hypochlorite and cremated, with the permission of the government of Liberia.

“A cremation urn has been prepared for dispatch to the family. The vehicle that conveyed the remains was also fully decontaminated,” he added.

In terms of contacts tracing, Dr Idris informed that so far, a total of 59 contacts were registered, consisting of 44 hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers and six laboratory staff) and 15 airport contacts, comprising three ECOWAS staff-driver, liaison and protocol officers, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five airport passenger handlers.

He explained that out of the number, 20 contacts had been physically screened, of which 50 per cent were of the type one contact and another 50 per cent, type two contacts, adding that the airline manifest had not been provided yet.

“The airline manifest has not been provided at the time of this report and, therefore, the precise number of passenger contacts is yet to be ascertained, especially as two flights were involved (Monrovia-Lome and Lome-Lagos). There was no report of a medical incident filed,” he said.

Dr Idris added that an isolation ward was designated by the Lagos State Ministry of Health at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, for case management, while the designation of three other health facilities was underway.

The commissioner added that a call-in team was established for the public to dial in and obtain information on the disease while toll-free lines were obtained from a telecommunications service provider to be used for answering questions, creating awareness, and receiving notifications of any suspected case.

He added that accounts in social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, were also activated for the purpose.

Idris stressed that in recognising the importance of involving the community early in the response, traditional and religious leaders had been alerted to the disease and requested to report promptly to health-care workers.

Special Adviser on Health, Dr (Mrs) Yewande Adeshina, also appealed to operators of traditional health care centres to be wary of patients with fever symptoms, who show signs of extreme weakness and diarrhea.

President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Professor Oyewale Tomori, also at the briefing, said all the contact persons were being screened on a continuous basis, to look for any possible signs of the disease.

He commended the timely action taken by the Lagos State government and the private hospital, adding that there was absolutely no need for people to panic.

Others at the briefing were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr Lateef Raji; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Modele Osunkiyesi; Permanent Secretary, Health Services Commission, Dr Hamid Balogun and the Permanent Secretary, Primary Health Care Board, Dr Kayode Oguntimehin.

NCAA suspends ASky Airline •Inbound passengers now for screening
Shola Adekola - Lagos

THE Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced, with immediate effect, the suspension of the operations of the Togolese-based airline, ASky Airline, into Nigeria.

NCAA said the suspension was necessary, in order to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus into Nigeria, even as it stated that it also had the responsibility to protect Nigerians from the deadly disease.

Acting Director-General, NCAA, Mr Benedict Adeyileka, announced the suspension at the Aviation House, headquarters of the agency, at the Murtala Muhammed Airprot, Lagos, on Monday.

The regulatory body had also directed the Directorate of Air Transport Regulation (DATR) to write a letter of investigation to the airline.

NCAA further stated that it would write to other airlines operating into and out of Nigeria, to ensure they put in place all necessary preventive measures during screening of passengers, which would include indicating countries earlier visited by the passengers.

A source close to the agency said its management, on Monday afternoon, held a meeting with the management of the airline and informed it of plans to suspend its operations in Nigeria, a situation, which did not go down well with the airline.

ASky Airline is an important player in the West, East and Central Africa regions, operating 80 flights into Lagos and Abuja weekly.

The acting NCAA boss, in a statement, said it took the action since the representatives of the airline could not offer evidence or capacity to prevent recurrence.

Adeyileka said the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) had prescribed measures (Standard Practices) in Annex Nine to the Convention, which a state must take to prevent the spread of communicable disease in the event of an outbreak.

In the same vein, Arik Air, which had earlier suspended its flights to Monrovia and Freetown, had been advised to maintain the status quo until cleared by NCAA.

The authority said it would write to other airlines operating into and out of Nigeria to ensure they put in place necessary preventive measures during screening of passengers.

Hospital where victim died shut
Moyosore Solarin - Lagos

IN a bid to contain the possible spread of the Ebola virus disease in Nigeria, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Federal Government have temporarily shut down the hospital that admitted the Liberian, who died from the deadly virus in Lagos.

Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, was reported to have said all other passengers aboard the plane with the deceased Patrick Sawyer were also undergoing tests.

Sources at the said hospital, First Consultants Medical Centre Limited, located at Ikoyi, also confirmed the closure.

According to reports, a statement by the Chief Consultant/Medical Director, Dr B. Ohiaeri and the Senior Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, Dr A. Adadevoh, confirmed that the hospital was currently undergoing a decontamination process.

“In keeping with WHO guidelines, the hospital is shut down briefly, as full decontamination exercise is currently in progress.

“The reopening of the hospital will also be in accordance with WHO guidelines,” the statement said.

Speaking on TV Continental in Lagos, on Monday, the state Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris, also revealed that some members of staff in close contact with the victim had also been isolated and being monitored.

“The hospital will be shut for a week and all staff monitored to ensure the virus has not spread,” he said.

Ebola: How to keep safe
By Paul Omorogbe

WHEN reports that Nigeria could experience an outbreak of Ebola virus were out, given the proximity of the country to Guinea and Liberia, where cases were earlier reported, not a few dismissed it with a wave of hand as mere conjecture. But recent events have shown the veracity of the virus.

Transmission

When an infection does occur in humans, there are several ways in which the virus can be transmitted to others. These include: direct contact with the blood or secretions of an infected person and exposure to objects (such as needles) that have been contaminated with infected secretions.

The viruses that cause Ebola high fever (HF) are often spread through families and friends, because they come in close contact with infectious secretions when caring for ill persons.

During outbreaks of Ebola HF, the disease can spread quickly within healthcare settings (such as a clinic or hospital). Exposure to Ebola viruses can occur in healthcare settings where members of hospital staff are not wearing appropriate protective equipment, such as masks, gowns, and gloves.

Proper cleaning and disposal of instruments such as needles and syringes is also important. If instruments are not disposable, they must be sterilised before being used again. Without adequate sterilisation of the instruments, virus transmission can continue and amplify an outbreak.

Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms of the disease include: fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, weakness, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain and lack of appetite.

Some patients may experience rashes, red eyes, hiccups, cough, sore throat, chest pain, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in swallowing, bleeding inside and outside of the body.

Symptoms may appear anywhere from two to 21 days after exposure to the virus, though eight to 10 days is most common.

Some who become sick with Ebola HF are able to recover, while others do not.

The reasons behind this are not yet fully understood. However, it is known that patients who die usually have not developed a significant immune response to the virus at the time of death.

Diagnosis

Diagnosing Ebola HF in an individual who has been infected for only a few days is difficult, because the early symptoms, such as red eyes and a skin rash, are non-specific to Ebola virus infection and are seen often in patients with more commonly occurring diseases.

However, if a person has the early symptoms of Ebola HF and there is reason to believe that Ebola HF should be considered, the patient should be isolated and public health professionals notified. Samples from the patient can then be collected and tested to confirm infection.

Prevention

Prevention of Ebola HF presents many challenges. Because it is still unknown how exactly people are infected, there are few established primary prevention measures.

When cases of the disease do appear, there is increased risk of transmission within health care settings. Therefore, health care workers must be able to recognise a case of Ebola HF and be ready to employ practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions or barrier nursing techniques. They should also have the capability to request diagnostic tests or prepare samples for shipping and testing elsewhere.

Barrier nursing techniques include: wearing of protective clothing (such as masks, gloves, gowns and goggles); the use of infection-control measures (such as complete equipment sterilisation and routine use of disinfectant) and isolation of Ebola HF patients from contact with unprotected persons.

The aim of all of these techniques is to avoid contact with the blood or secretions of an infected patient. If a patient with Ebola HF dies, it is equally important that direct contact with the body of the deceased patient be prevented.

Treatment

Timely treatment of Ebola HF is important but challenging, since the disease is difficult to diagnose clinically in the early stages of infection. Because early symptoms such as headache and fever are non-specific to Ebola viruses, cases of Ebola HF may be initially misdiagnosed.

However, if a person has the early symptoms of Ebola HF and there is reason to believe that Ebola HF should be considered, the patient should be isolated and public health professionals notified

Man Batters Wife's Face over Piece of Fish

Mrs. Fatima Bankole, 34, was battered by her husband, Alhaji Kamoru Bankole, for taking piece of fish from the pot to break her fast.

The victim is first of three wives of Alhaji Kamoru, at residing at Hasan Close, Alasia, Ijanikin in Lagos State.

Fatima Bankole
The bruising attack happened on  the 16th of July, when the third wife reported to their husband that their senior wife took fish from the soup to break her fast. The husband, according to witnesses, did not listen to her excuse before attacking her.

According to the victim, Mrs. Fatima Bankole, their husband had always physically abused her, but the incidence of  July 16th was more brutal.

She narrated that they had made a roster between two wives, due to the absence of the third wife who was away at the period, to cook for 15 days each. The victim said she had completed her period, and it was turn of the last wife. She said they would normally serve the husband first, followed by the children before the wives would serve themselves.

On the day she was to be attacked, Mrs. Fatima said the last wife had finished her cooking and served their husband and the children. She then went for her own meal.

But soon after, the last wife complained to her husband that Fatima took a larger chunk of the fish in the pot. Their husband, Alhaji Kamoru Bankole, queried her, but she said that she only took a little out of it, stating that the fish was in pieces and mixed in the stew. Her explanations, however, got her in trouble with their husband. Alhaji Kamoru, she details, delivered several punches to her face. She said she bled for hours and was further locked up in a room for three days before she escaped.

She said neighbors then took her to the hospital for treatment. That was the cruelest from her history of experience of assault by their husband, Mrs. Fatima said. From experiences she recounted, she recalled how her hair was pulled out of her head, which resulted in grievous head injuries. Mrs. Fatima Bankole, 34, was battered by her husband, Alhaji Kamoru Bankole, for taking piece of fish from the pot to break her fast.

Liberian Man reportedly infected with Ebola Virus dies in Lagos (Photos)

Untitled(11)

Mr. Patrick Sawyer, a WASH consultant at the Ministry of Finance, who had been quarantined since falling ill after arriving in the Nigerian state of Lagos for a conference last Sunday, has died.
A Liberian government official, speaking on condition of anonymity said the news of Sawyer's death was relayed to Liberia by the Nigerian embassy, early Friday morning.

Nigerian government health authorities announced Thursday that Sawyer, 40 was being tested for the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria's commercial capital of Lagos, a megacity of 21 million people.

Sawyer’s death is the first recorded case of one of the world's deadliest diseases in Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy and most populous nation, with 170 million people and some of Africa's least adequate health infrastructure.

Ebola has killed 632 people across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since an outbreak began in February, straining a string of weak health systems despite international help.

The virus — which starts off with flu-like symptoms and often ends with horrific hemorrhaging — has infected about 1,048 people and killed an estimated 632 since this winter, according to the numbers on July 17 from the World Health Organization.

Ebola is both rare and very deadly. Since the first outbreak in 1976, Ebola viruses have infected thousands of people and killed about one-third of them. Symptoms can come on very quickly and kill fast:

FrontPageAfrica reported Thursday that Sawyer may have contracted the virus from his sister, who died at the Catholic Hospital some three weeks ago. Sawyer had told friends that the sister husband had fled the home after the wife died and that he(Patrick) convinced him to report to health authorities to check for signs of Ebola.
Ebola has killed 660 people across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since an outbreak in February, straining their flimsy healthcare systems despite international help.

On Thursday, a spokesman for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva confirmed Nigeria had "one suspect case" and said samples had been sent to a WHO lab for testing.

The special adviser on public health to the Lagos state government, Yewande Adeshina, told a news conference that Sawyer had collapsed on arrival at Lagos airport from Liberia on Sunday. He was rushed to hospital and put in an isolation ward, she said. "The patient was admitted and detained on suspicion of possible EBV (Ebola virus) infection, while blood sample collection and testing was initiated," she said in her statement, adding that "results are pending."

Sawyer’s death comes in the wake of reports out of Sierra Leone that the head doctor fighting the deadly tropical virus in Sierra Leone has himself caught the disease.
Thirty-nine-year-old Sheik Umar Khan, hailed as a 'national hero' by the health ministry, was leading the fight to control an outbreak that has killed 206 people in the West African country.

There is no cure or vaccine for Ebola which can kill up to 90 percent of those infected, although the mortality rate of the current outbreak is lower at around 60 percent.
Across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, 632 people have died from the illness, according to the latest World Health Organisation (WHO) data, putting great strain on the health systems of some of Africa's poorest countries.

The WHO report, released on Saturday, showed that there were 19 new deaths and 67 new cases within the four days since its previous statement.
Ebola is one of a number of viruses that can cause hemorrhagic fever, and that others, including Lassa fever virus and Dengue virus

Eko oni Baje o!Four Men Abduct Daughter walking with Mum in Broad Daylight at Oshodi

Oshodi-under-bridge-area-360x234

A four-man gang said to be kidnappers stormed Oshodi under bridge on Saturday, snatching a young woman at gunpoint.

One of them was reported to have worn the uniform usually used by officials of the anti-robbery squad.

Punch correspondent gathered that the victim was walking along with her mother when she was confronted by the men. It was said that the mother was threatened with a gun when she wanted to defend her daughter.

It was learnt that the gang, who were said to have arrived at the Oshodi area around 2.30pm, whisked the woman away in a Honda Pilot jeep.

PUNCH Metro also learnt that the young woman struggled to avoid being abducted by snatching handcuffs from one of the abductors and smashing it on his head.

The man, who was reported to be on a uniform with a scorpion logo at the back, corked his gun to disperse a crowd who wanted to help the woman.

When our correspondent arrived at the scene of the incident at about 2.45pm, the victim’s mother was seen pacing up and down and shouting “egba mi, omo mi!” (Please help me, my daughter). The worried mother did not reply our correspondent’s enquiries as she ran after the vehicle.

One of the eyewitnesses, who craved anonymity, showed PUNCH Metro the picture he took while the car was zooming off, adding that the angry crowd hurled stones at it.

He said, “The men were four, but only one of them came out to abduct the lady. She managed to grab the handcuffs from the man and hit him on the head. He did not let her go.

“He dragged her to a pole and punched her several times till she was helpless. As some of us wanted to rescue her, the man brought out a gun and threatened to shoot anybody that came near him. Even an Air Force official who approached the others in the vehicle was shunned.”

Another eyewitness, who gave his name only as Johnson, said the gang might be cultists, adding that the woman might have stepped on their toes.

A man simply, identified as Ayo, however, said that the men were kidnappers. He said they would have killed the woman on the spot if they were cultists.

“I cannot say they are policemen because the man in uniform has beard which is not allowed in armed forces. They must be kidnappers. They would have shot her dead if they were cult members,” he said.

Attempts to get a reaction from the Lagos State spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, proved abortive as calls made to her mobile phone rang out. She had also not replied to the text message sent to her phone as of the time of going to press.

Osun State Governor Splashes N375M on Women

rauf

The crowd at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, capital of Osun State, southwest Nigeria, on Thursday, comprising mainly of women, showed their appreciation through singing, dancing and prayers for the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

Aregbesola’s administration will give out N375 million as cash in aid of women who head households in the state. Apart from giving the women monthly stipends, they will be trained in vocations common to their territory and at the end of the 12th month, they will each be given a seed money to start small scale business, Pm News reports.

The only condition attached to the benefitting households was that they should make use of government infrastructure – meaning pregnant women in such households should make use of government health facilities while their children attend government schools.

Also, at the event, new ultra-modern hand-held ultrasound diagnostic scanners (touch screen) and mirror-3d (colour) dopller ultrasound diagnostic scanners were launched.

Here is also what the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aregbesola on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo has to say;

“We give out N5,000 monthly to the head of each benefitting household which is a woman. That is the cash aspect. Residents of the benefitting households must make use of government facilities, that is the condition. The transfer aspect is that the money given out will be spent in the state, that is ploughing back the money into the state economy thereby contributing to its development. At the end of the 12th month, each head of the benefitting household will get N100,000 to start small scale businesses of their own. Remember that the pregnant women are treated free at government hospitals while the children enjoy not only free education but they also get free school uniform and are fed free. So the people are the ultimate winners of this programme.

A Malaysian Airlines passenger plane has been shot down on the Russian-Ukraine border, killing all 295 people on board, according to a Ukrainian interior ministry official.

Flight MH17, which was carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew, was flying from Amsterdam toKuala Lumpur after taking off at lunchtime today. The Interfax news agency reported that the aircraft went missing near Donetsk, where pro-Russian rebels have been fighting Ukrainian government forces.

TV pictures from the scene showed a pall of smoke billowing into the sky apparently from the
stricken aircraft. Witnesses say body parts are scattered over a distance of 15km, suggesting the plane broke up in mid-air.

It has emerged that the Ukrainian rebels who shot down the plane with BUK surface-to-air missile at 33,000ft around 20 miles before entering Russian airspace.
Filmed it and their militia commander Igor Strelkov, tweeted after the crash"

At the time, he apparently believed he had shot down an Antonov-26 military plane of the Ukrainian Air Force Plane. As soon as he must have realised the grave mistake,he deleted the tweet and video  .

According to Mailonline, the Laughing rebels filmed the plane as it crashed, bragging ‘That was a blast – look at the smoke!’

A voice believed to be that of Strelkov – dubbed ‘Igor the Terrible’ – announces:

‘The plane was hit‘Look at those black spots, these are the parts, flying … it was a blast … look, look, black smoke!’
Another rebel, laughs and says:

‘It was worth bringing this thing, wasn’t it?
