Hilarious!Different Kinds of Nigerian Girls and How they Operate

Screenshot_2014-06-29-06-02-46

This is a very insightful break down of the different kinds of Nigerian women, I'd box them into regions for better comprehension.
Here they are-

(1) AMAKA (The basic Eastern girl)

Amaka is the type of girl who is ready to be whatever you want her to be, as long you have whatever she wants (cars, house, containers, Chieftaincy titles etc). Amaka is likely to be naturally fair skinned, hairy and quite pretty, she loves shiny clothes and red lipstick.
Amaka is likely to have a little problem with pronouncing words that starts with this two letters R and L , she is homely and very peaceful (until you take her for granted). Her weaknesses are self-composure and esteem as she is easily intimidated by classier woman (hence making the very loud Amaka become an introvert).... But one good thing Amaka would leave you with is a hunger for her meals .

(2) FUNKE (The Ijebu drama queen)

When Funke talks or whispers, you would think she's quarelling with you. Her persona is quite funny. She's likely to be dark skinned, busty and somehow pretty; she loves the night life and would stop at nothing to using you flaunt for her competitors. She is likely to have more female friends, grouped into different names on her phone and diary (ie; binta secondary school girls, Great-Ife ladies, Bukki's wedding bridal friends)
Funke is one that can never be intimidated (hintimidated as she is likely to pronounce it) because when english fails her in a brawl, there is always yoruba for backups! But one thing you won't forget about Funke is her oily food. The oil in her meals is enough to ordain as many priests in this lifetime ...................#okbye

(3) MEET AMINA (The silent killer)

Amina is the sweetest girl ever!, she is decent and homely, well-groomed and has the most potential towards being a lasting spouse, but what Amina wants? Amina gets! Amina shouldn't be toyed with as she is either a niece or daughter to one "baba" . She is more open to diabolic means since it is within her reach. But Amina is beautiful sha oh....... Especially when you take off that hijab and see what Allah gave her!. One thing Amina makes you remember is her total submission and respect for you.

(4) EKAETE (The raw material)
Ekaete is just the most hilarious! From her intonation to her walking steps, you would never forget. Ekaete too is a good kitchenette as your weight would never remain the same! Ekaete is raw and proud of it! But please don't expose Ekaete too much, except you want to stop enjoying what she is known for *i no talk pass that one*

(5) FEJIRO (The waffey mama)
Fejiro is comedy! Because she too is very self confident, whether na hand, mouth or bottle......she dey dia! Fejiro is likely to be a bad cook as everything she would cook must have less salt. Fejiro is the kind of woman that would come into your life and make others leave.....she doesn't share her man. One thing you will never forget about her is her waffey semantics during a quarrel.

(6) PRINCESS (Phc's 1st daughter)
Princess originally could be named omasiri-chi, ebiere or ibiso but she chooses to call herself Princess because the need for an english "tush" name is highly needed for self promotion.
So Princess is your typical ghetto harriet, she probably can drink more beers than you, probably have more money sef! But she's with you because the need to have a "boy friend" is crucial.
She is likely to wear a leg chain and have her eye-lash extensions in different colors. She is a trend follower and would stop at nothing to get the "latest" in-thing in town. She isn't homely because she could be a mother of three (codedly), and one thing that shouldn't shock you when you find out is that she could be 'doing' girls by the side.

So Gentlemen, here are the ladies and their "basic Eve-Nature", however; education, exposure and social standing could erase or exempt these facts.

Angry Uruguay Coach quits FIFA Position over Suarez Ban

Screenshot_2014-06-28-18-04-09

Uruguay national team coach, Oscar Tabarez has announced his resignation as a FIFA committee member following the ban of one of his team players, Luis Suarez few days back. Tabarez who walked out of a press conference at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Friday said the Uruguayan player was being made a scapegoat.

In his 15-min pre-match speech, Tabarez blamed the English press for mounting pressure on the FIFA disciplinary panel to punish Suarez. " The decision was much more focused on the opinions of the media, and that media attacked immediately at the conclusion of the match. I don't know what their nationality was, but they all spoke English."It is not wise, at least it is not prudent to be in an organization with people who exerted pressure in order to promote this decision. They have "values that are very different from those that I believe I have." He added.

The 67 year-old continued, "Who wins, who loses? Who benefits, who is harmed? Who ended up getting things their way? We never thought or expected what we found out when we were told about the details of the punishment — of an excessive severity."

Unbelievable!!34weeks Pregnant Woman runs 800M Race

cats-17

Thirty-four weeks pregnant, Montano ran the 800 meters Thursday in the U.S. Track and Field Championships. The five-time national champion finished in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds — nearly 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34 in 2010 in Monaco.

"I've been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process," Montano said after the qualifying heat.

That the 28-year-old former University of California star finished last in her heat didn't matter one bit to the crowd gathered at Hornet Stadium. Trailing the lead pack by more than 120 meters for most of the race, Montano received a rousing ovation as she finished her first lap and the cheering grew louder when she finally crossed the finish line.

"I just didn't want to get lapped and be the first person to get lapped in the 800," said Montano, the 800 national champion the past four years.

She was never close to being lapped, taking a nice relaxed pace from the start and maintaining it throughout.

That was according to the plan Montano laid out after consulting with her physician. Not only did doctors give Montano the OK to run, they encouraged her.

"That took away any fear of what the outside world might think about a woman running during her pregnancy," Montano said. "What I found out mostly was that exercising during pregnancy is actually much better for the mom and the baby.

... I did all the things I normally do ... I just happened to be pregnant. This is my normal this year."

Miracle! Woman gives Birth After being Pregnant for 14 Years

1g

Mercy James will always be grateful to God .Reason is that she miraculously gave birth to a baby girl after 14 years of being pregnant.

The baby was promptly and aptly christined Miracle. And why not? If the mother had delivered at the expected time the child would have been a teenager by now and possibly in secondary school at the JSS 3 level.

Mercy,a single parent, said of her ordeal during the 14 years she was pregnant but could not give birth:“When I first took in, I knew that I was pregnant with signs and test that confirmed that I was. Four months later, I went to hospital for another test, the result showed that I wasn’t pregnant, but had fibroid.

Subsequently, I began to experience bleeding, at least once a day. Sometimes, my tummy would protrude in the semblance of pregnancy. I went to different hospitals, and I kept on receiving the same result that nothing was wrong with me. But deep down inside , I knew that all was not well with me.
Churches and native doctors
“So I was taken aback when a midwife told me I was pregnant. But considering the test which showed I had fibroid, I was angry with the midwife for giving me what I felt was a false prophecy of hope.

Thereafter, I started going from one church to another and from one native doctor to the other. The results that I got from them all remained the same. I became more feeble and confused that I prayed for death to come.

“I went again to the midwife two years after and complained to her about the pains that I was going through, she told me again that it was not fibroid but pregnancy; she advised me to be more prayerful so that God will deliver me from the hands of the devil.

I kept on praying and at the same time asking myself that if truly I’m pregnant, why is it that the baby was not kicking?
“I bought many concoctions that they said could cure fibroid and drank them. I even drank 12 bottles of a local cleanser but to no avail. This went on for years. Then God took pity on me and decided to wipe my tears.

On the day I gave birth to my baby girl, I initially thought that worms were trying to come out of my body not knowing that it was a baby. This was what I told the midwife when we came to her. But after examining me she told me to push.

I ignored her. I became unconscious for about 15 minutes and when I regained consciousness, I heard the cry of a baby. I was surprised and confused seeing my baby. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Hmm,I thank God for my life and that of my baby Miracle. I named her Miracle because she is truly a miraculous child”.

The midwife at the Celestial Church of Christ, Kadoso Parish, Ajegunle where Mercy gave birth confirmed the development, especially the role she played.

The woman who simply gave her name as Mrs Ajetima informed thus: “She was pregnant for 14 years and was unable to give birth during this period. Then on Saturday around 6:30am I saw two persons carrying her to this place. When she came inside, I laid her down and asked one of my daughters to examine her, after the examination, I found out that it was a baby that was about coming out and not worms.

I asked her to push and she refused. My daughter gave her a hard slap on her laps since she refused to push.
Behold a baby with placenta came out! I started shouting, calling on people to come and see for themselves that Mercy was truly pregnant, because if not, people will start to say that that Celestial woman has given Mercy a baby. Within a twinkle of an eye, the whole place was filled with people. God is wonderful”.

Also affirming the happy development, Mercy’s closest friend, Odunayo Odeyemi had this to say: “I have known mercy for over nine years now. I met her with the pregnancy . In fact, she did not know that she was pregnant. I followed her to many places but her problems kept on increasing. Merely looking at Mercy then before she gave birth, you will notice that she wasn’t okay.

I kept advising her to have faith in God because I had experienced the same thing. I was pregnant for three years and three months and God delivered me.
“Mercy came to me on that fateful day around 4am begging me to give her a pain reliever, that she was having pains all over her body. I dressed up and took her to a man that sells drugs.

After taking the drug, on our way home, she started having serious pains. I called her brother and we both took her to the midwife. Hours later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. We all were surprised because we never expected such a miracle to happen. She had a complete baby.”

Robert Davidson, one of Mercy’s friends, said that he concluded after seeing Mercy with a protruded tummy for three years that she had fibroid. So, “it came to me as a shock to learn that she delivered a bouncing baby girl.”

For Chidimma Ibe, a neighbour: “She always complained to me that she had stomach pains all these period. She told me that she had fibroid and sometime, she will complain of different things. She was totally confused as to what her condition was. I’m very much surprised and happy she gave birth to a complete baby girl. It was truly a miracle. God was on her side. God is wonderful because all the concoctions she took were enough to kill the baby.”

On the father of Baby Miracle, Mercy informed that they got separated on account of the ordeal that attended her pregnancy. “Friday is the name of my baby’s father.

Actually, we are not married. He just proposed to me and I became pregnant for him. He knew about the pregnancy. He always gave me money for tests and scans but he got tired and left me after waiting for me for over a year without seeing any sign of a baby. I have no option than to go my own way,” she informed.

2Face Sues Icon Magazine 100M for Libel

Screenshot_2014-06-23-15-12-09

2face Idibia has slammed a N100million suit against soft-sell magazine, Icon Weekly, for libel. The Media/Entertainment Law Firm of L & A- Legal Consultants has filed libel proceedings on behalf of  2face, at the Ikeja High Court asking the court to award their client the sum of N100million being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine’s online and print platforms.

In March this year, Icon alleged that 2face committed adultery by impregnating a 'Lagos top banker' who is supposedly his account officer in one of the new generation banks and that infact, the lady had every intention of keeping the baby. The story went viral, which 2face later denied.

A source close to the music icon said the story, which was found to be false, made 2face lose a very lucrative deal and caused ripples between him and his wife. Icon weekly is said to have approached 2face’s team for discussions on a possible out of court settlement.

3 Reasons Why Porn is Harmful and you Should Beware

Screenshot_2014-06-23-12-26-26

Today’s twenty-somethings have been exposed to more pornography, and research is showing that they’ve become more accepting of it.

I heard from a young woman the other day who didn’t get why I was anti-porn. “It’s a great way for my fiancé, to meet his needs when I’m not in the mood. I don’t want him to keep bugging me if I’m not into it that night. And he shouldn’t just have to ‘deal’ with frustration, either.”

What’s not to love about porn?

It may seem helpful enough now, but I’m convinced that couples like this will pay a price for their casual acceptance of porn.

I remember when a group named Science in the Public Interest made a stink about an unhealthy, formerly unpublicized, very tasty ingredient in movie theater popcorn: Coconut oil.

Problem is it will clog our arteries for the same reason we keep going back for refills: it’s loaded with the most addictive kind of fat.

Porn is like movie theater popcorn laced with heroin.

It’s up to us to decide whether or not we’re going to consume it, but let’s at least understand what it does to us:

1. Porn ruins real sex.

The woman from the couple above said that her fiancé prefers real sex when he can have it. Unfortunately, even if he prefers flesh-and-blood sex with her now, the scale may tip as he keeps using porn.

The high of infatuation fades over time in a relationship. Why diminish attraction even more by exposing ourselves to a parade of alternative sex objects? Study after study has demonstrated that viewing pornography diminishes research subjects’ attraction to and satisfaction with their real-life partners.

I see it all the time in my practice: One client knew her husband was back into porn because he never wanted to make love to her. Another client, a porn-addicted young man, found that sex with his girlfriend was only exciting when he imagined they were being filmed.

2. Porn fails to satisfy.

Prolactin is one of the feel-good chemicals that comes in like the tide after lovemaking and leaves us contented and more attached to our partner.

In a study at the University of Paisley, some subjects had sex with their partner; others masturbated to porn. Afterward, there was 400% more prolactin in the bloodstream of the subjects who had made love.

Mitch sought my help because he felt trapped by porn, and he didn’t like what it was doing to his life. “I get fed up and try to stay away. But then some part of me wants to explore again. I think, ‘Okay, I’ll look for a few minutes. Then I get hooked in and stay at it.

Later, looking back on the time I spent, it feels so empty. Before, when I was with a girl and the attraction was mutual, I was happy to just be with her. Life was an exciting adventure. Now, with the porn, life’s just bland. I get on the computer and look something up. That’s as special as it gets.”

3. Porn kills confidence.

A client complained to me: “I get a gross feeling in the morning from being so exhausted from looking at porn the night before. I’m disgusted with myself. It sets my day off on the wrong foot. I go about my business and pretend I’m fine, but inside something feels amiss.”

The other day another client concluded, “Porn has played a part in my being afraid of real women. When I can get on the computer and look at any woman, it makes me look past real women. Now, if I bump into a beautiful girl, I may think, ‘She’s pretty,’ but there’s not the same pull, the same electricity that I used to feel. Now the only way I can get that intense attraction is from porn. It makes me not trust my reactions to women, so I’m gun-shy. I used to feel better when I got more aroused by my imagination instead of looking at a computer screen.”

There are lots of couples like our first one out there.

I’m sure some are open to the possibility that porn may not be good for them or for their relationship. If you’re one of them, please remember: there’s heroin in that popcorn.

Husband Found Guilty of Molesting Wife After not "Pulling Out" during Sex

Read a case reported by the London Metro newspaper below;

“He would still be guilty if he did something she asked him not to, a High Court panel led by England and Wales’ most senior judge decreed.

A man would no longer be said to have consent because he ‘deliberately ignored’ the limitations put on sex, it was decided.

The ruling follows a test case involving a wife who claimed her husband broke their agreement by failing to withdraw.

The judges backed her, saying she ‘was deprived of choice relating to the crucial feature on which her original consent to intimate intercourse was based’.

They added: ‘Accordingly, her consent was negated.’

The couple, who wed under Islamic law, Were Intimate after agreeing he would withdraw because she was ‘adamant that she did not want another child’.

But the husband went back on his word, making her pregnant.

He gave her ‘no chance to object’ and insisted ‘I’ll do what I want’, the panel, led by lord chief justice Lord Judge, heard.

Prosecutors originally decided not to charge him with molestation or intimate assault, claiming it would be ‘impossible to prove’ his actions were not ‘spontaneous’.

They were told to review their decision after the judges decided it fell ‘within the statutory definition of molestation’.

However, Lord Judge said that men who tried in vain to withdraw in time should not be pursued for molestation, adding: ‘These things happen – they always have and they always will.

‘No offence is committed when they do. They underline why withdrawal is not a safe method of contraception.’

The ruling came a day after a small rise in the number of successful molestation prosecutions, was revealed.

Campaigners say just 15 per cent of victims report attacks.”

Ignoramus!! Man Set Wife Ablaze for delivering Female Children

cats

A 35-year-old man and medicine dealer,  Paul Mkpuke from Onuojgon Alike Ikwo in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is  in police net for  setting his wife, Monica, ablaze, because she’s been delivering only female children.

The man had earlier sent his wife back to her parents, a source said.  But  not satisfied with that, he allegedly mobilized suspected hoodlums whom he led to his wife’s parents’ house with the intention to kill her.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Chris Anyanwu who confirmed the incident said Mkpuke and his boys laid ambush for Monica at night waiting for her to come out to ease herself and when she did, three men  rushed and grabbed her while one of them slapped her repeatedly before forcing her onto a standby motorcycle.

He said   when they got to a particular bridge, Monica was brought down from the motorcycle and  her wrapper was removed and used to  blindfold her. Subsequently, they poured  fuel on her  and set her ablaze.

The PPRO noted  when the hoodlums were convinced she had been severely burnt and may not survive, they abandoned her but after some time, Monica regained little strength and rolled into a nearby pond and subsequently struggled her way into  an uncompleted building to hide because she was naked  until a farmer discovered her.

Monica was later rushed to Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki where she underwent surgery and now convalescing.

When Sunday Sun visited her, she was still too weak and could not talk but her younger brother, Sunday Nwigbo who was with her at the hospital narrated her ordeal in  her husband’s household where she had spent  12 years.

He said  the man impregnated his sister when she was in secondary school at Ikwo and continued living with her, adding that Mkpuke had not even paid her bride price but often threatened to kill her whenever the issue was raised and for not delivering  a male child.

Nwigbo further revealed that Mkpuke had earlier sent his sister packing in March 2014 declaring that he was fed-up with her  and the case was reported to the Family Law Centre of the wife of the governor for intervention.

The PPRO said  the suspect had been charged to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, wife of the state governor, Mrs. Josephine Elechi has waded into the matter and has been  caring for  Monica at the hospital with a resolve  to ensure that justice prevails  to serve as a deterrent to others like Mkpuke.

Beware!Painkillers Can increase the Risk of Heart Attacks and Strokes.

Screenshot_2014-06-22-07-48-42

Researchers say that doctors and patients need to be aware that prescription of any anti-inflammatory drug needs to take cardiovascular risk into account. The drugs include traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) as well as new generation anti-inflammatory drugs, known as COX-2 inhibitors.

NSAIDs have been the cornerstone of managing pain in patients with osteoarthritis and other painful conditions. In 2004, the COX-2 inhibitor rofecoxib was withdrawn from the market after a trial found that the drug increased the risk of cardiovascular disease. Since then, there has been much debate about the cardiovascular safety of COX-2 inhibitors and traditional NSAIDs, which several studies have not been able to resolve.

So researchers in Switzerland performed a comprehensive analysis of all randomised controlled trials comparing any NSAID with other NSAIDs or placebo.

They included 31 trials and 116,429 patients taking seven different drugs (naproxen, ibuprofen, diclofenac, celecoxib, etoricoxib, rofecoxib, lumiracoxib) or placebo to provide a more reliable estimate of the cardiovascular risks of these drugs than previous studies.

Overall, the number of harmful outcomes that could be compared for placebo versus treatment was low. In 29 trials there was a total of 554 heart attacks; in 26 trials there were 377 strokes, and in 28 trials there were 676 deaths. So the absolute risk of cardiovascular problems among people taking painkillers was low, but the researchers did find that, relative to placebo, the drugs carried important risks.

For instance, compared with placebo, rofecoxib and lumiracoxib were associated with twice the risk of heart attack, while ibuprofen was associated with more than three times the risk of stroke. Etoricoxib and diclofenac were associated with the highest (around four times) risk of cardiovascular death.

Naproxen appeared least harmful in terms of cardiovascular safety among the seven analysed preparations.

Although the number of cardiovascular events in the trials was low, the authors say “our study provides the best available evidence on the safety of this class of drugs.” They conclude: “Although uncertainty remains, little evidence exists to suggest that any of the investigated drugs are safe in cardiovascular terms. Cardiovascular risk needs to be taken into account when prescribing any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.”

An accompanying editorial says these cardiovascular risks are worrying because many patients have both cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal disease, and suggests that it is time for an evaluation of a broader range of alternatives.

Advice Needed:I am Pregnant for my Mother's Husband.

Screenshot_2014-06-22-07-27-53

This young lady needs your advice, This is her story….

N:B: All Names And Events are Fictious!

Nancy’s father died in a ghastly motor accident when she was barely two months old. His photographs were always with her but she never knew him. She prodded her mother endlessly to tell her stories about her father and was never tired hearing the same thing over and again.

Anytime she saw her friends with their fathers, she was sad and longed for that person she could refer to as a father. Along the line, she gained admission into a polytechnic to study accountancy.

As a first year diploma student of accountancy, she became really close to Ahmed, a final year HND student of the same department. They were from the same tribe and spoke the same language. Being a fresher who was largely ignorant about her surroundings and the way things worked, she found succour in him, who was only too glad to provide a shoulder for her to lean on.

While Nancy saw in him a guardian, Ahmed saw in her, a prey he couldn’t wait to feast on. He slept with her and deceived her into thinking that he cared very much about her.

Shortly before he graduated, he pledged his undying love for her and she believed him. Unfortunately, whatever existed between them both ended as soon as he left. Try as she could, nothing could be done about restoring their relationship. He had moved on with another woman.

She picked up the pieces of her life and moved on. Not too long after, she met Lawrence, an older student in the same polytechnic.

He was contented remaining her very good friend, offering her succour and advice when needed but Nancy wanted more. She loved his disposition and wanted him for keeps. With time, she won him over and like her previous relationship, it ended same way.

Again, she moved on. By the time she began making plans to start her internship; her mother had found love with a well-known business man, Igwe Albert, who married her as his second wife.

Naturally, Nancy became his step daughter. Igwe ensured that his new wife was happy—he set her up in business, got her a good apartment and a car. He also ensured that his step daughter lacked nothing.

He even urged her to have her internship in the accounts department of his company. Seeing how well she did her job and even helping to reduce his overhead cost, he came to appreciate her and showered her with praises and gifts.

It soon got to a point where she stayed back after most of the workers have closed for the day, balancing the books. On such occasions, Igwe would stay back to keep her company and related with her the way a father would with a daughter.

Nancy appreciated this kind gesture and quickly warmed up to him. She was glad to have found a real father figure at last!

One evening, when they were relating as usual, their discussion soon became raunchy and they had sex in the office! She felt bad that she had betrayed her mother.

“I don’t want you to tell your mother about what happened tonight,” Igwe said and signed a cheque of N2m in her name. She didn’t believe he could be this generous and thought this could be the last intimate moment they would share together.

But it wasn’t. Igwe kept coming for her and so were the gifts and money. Her initial fear was erased. Nancy relaxed and went full throttle with him. Not even the mother suspected anything because she believed her husband was taking care of her daughter.

Three months after, she became pregnant and her mother and the first wife soon found out. But Nancy refused an abortion.

“Mother, do you remember what the prophet you took me to when I was 18 years old said?” Nancy asked her mother. Her mother had taken her to a prophet for prayers when she suffered from a strange ailment and medical help failed. Nancy was prayed for and she got better. The prophet warned her mother that the girl must never have an abortion, if she did, she would die!

“So, you are going to keep the pregnancy and marry my husband?” her mother said despitefully.

“Nancy, the prophecy was five years ago and it was because of your illness. You must go for an abortion.”

Surprisingly, even Igwe sits on the fence about it and told mother and daughter to take the decision they felt was the best for them.

But both Nancy’s mother and his first wife are set for battle. They asked that the pregnancy be terminated.

New Research Shows that Fathers who Cook, does house chores raise Better Daughters

Screenshot_2014-06-22-07-17-26

If fathers want their daughters to aspire to potentially high-paying careers like doctors, CEOs, engineers, etc, they should roll up their sleeves and help with some extra house chores, according to a new study.

The study titled, “How fathers treat their domestic duties appears to play a unique gatekeeper role,” conducted by a group of psychologists at the University of British Columbia, Canada, suggests that fathers who perform household chores, like sweeping the floors, cleaning dishes and doing laundry, are more likely to raise daughters who aspire to less-traditional but more lucrative female careers like medicine.

The study adds that how parents share domestic duties plays a key role in shaping the gender attitudes and aspirations of their children, especially daughters, because little girls watch how their parents share household chores and what they observe play a crucial role in shaping their attitude towards gender and work.

However, it is believed that there are other factors that explain why children aspire to certain careers, such as parental occupation and educational background, having strong role models, decent education, inner confidence, household income, the length of time parents spend with their children, the quality of a child’s school and the aspirations of her friends and peer group.

According to psychology researcher and the lead author of the study, Alyssa Croft, who is also a PhD candidate in the university, while mothers’ gender and work equality beliefs were key factors in predicting kids’ attitudes toward gender, the strongest predictor of daughters’ own professional goals and ambitions was their fathers’ approach to household chores.

The study surveyed families at UBC’s Living Lab at Science World. The researchers followed 326 children between the ages of seven and 13, and at least one of their parents. The families were primarily made up of heterosexual couples that live together with their children.

What did surprise the researchers, however, was the link between a father’s role in carrying out chores and their daughter’s career aspirations. Even if fathers spoke out in favour of gender equality, but did not perform the domestic duties, their daughters were still more likely to see themselves pursuing female-dominant careers as nurses, teachers, librarians or stay-at home moms, unlike fathers who walk the talk.

Croft said the study’s findings were an important lesson for dads if they want their daughters to aim for careers outside of the norm for women because parents’ domestic actions may speak louder than words.

The findings further revealed that a more balanced division of household labour among parents might promote greater workforce equality in future generations.

The study believes that young women are ambitious and very much want to be financially independent but are sometimes discouraged by some hurdles, which makes it difficult. While some girls shy away from what they call male subjects in school and end up choosing other subjects that eventually lead to lower paid jobs.

A father-of-two, Ian Douglas, says another factor that inspires girls to be ambitious is not to be treated just as roughly as boys are treated and not with with extremely gentle hands. “The general treatment of girls is quite gentle and they are allowed to stop when it is a bit hard. That is why I don’t know how to say ‘As a girl you can go,’” he said.

He said he splits the household chores with his wife and he thinks it is just as important for his one year-old son to see him do chores, as it is for his four year-old daughter.

Other respondents to the study said it is important for young girls to receive career advice and have access to a range of different role models because children are very reactive to gender roles.

However, a critic of the study, Sean Davis, in his article posted on thefederalist.com, said it is important for parents to let their daughters know their self worth, how much their father loves them and how much they respect their wives. He criticised the authors for not including any real data about the respondent’s family background.

“Dads should do more to help around the house when they are able, but if they want to raise confident daughters, who truly believe they are capable of achieving anything, today’s dads need to focus more on loving their daughters for who they are. A father should be an engaged participant in his daughter’s life, such as giving her a steadfast example of how real men treat women, and not all about simple chores. That may not be science, but it is absolutely common sense,” he said.

But, consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Adeoye Oyewole, says even though such study may not readily be applicable in Africa because of cultural differences, it is possible that when a father does house chores, it gives the daughter a form of positive orientation and security about the home and the opportunity to explore her dreams without fear.

“Daughters want their fathers to have strong leadership ability, financially, emotionally and in terms of giving direction. They appreciate fathers who give their well being top priority, such as prompt attention to their needs, which makes the daughters to give their best because of the assurance of support, instead of the fathers pursuing some secondary selfish desires,” he said.

Oyewole added that when children feel secured, they could explore and be at their best, more so when their mothers are well treated, which enhances their self worth and aspirations.

While a medical practitioner, Dr. Rotimi Adesanya, said there has not been any proven medical evidence or connection between fathers who do house chores and the career choice of their children. “Factors such as environment, economy and social status of the parents are important. Also, children of top executives, senior lecturers and those who occupy senior positions tend to do better because what they see around influence them and the choices they make,” he said.

But another Psychiatrist, Dr. Oluwabunmi Buhari, says males who do house chores are likely to be those who do not earn much salary, hence, they do chores to compensate for the things they were supposed to achieve but could not, thus encouraging their daughters to do better than them.

“Little girls tend to take advantage of equality and successes around them to be at their best rather than the involvement of their fathers in doing house chores. When girls see their mum achieve things that other mothers could not, it is a drive because they may want to put in more effort and achieve more, and not necessarily because the father was doing chores,” she said.

While calling for a furtherance to the study, Buhari said, before such discovery could be generalised, same study should be replicated to know the effect on male children in such houses before it could be tied to the involvement of the fathers in house chores.

Mailonline Reporter,Gordon Brown reports..

"I was shown these pictures after visiting Nigeria this week. I met the leader of the community council in Chibok, the town from which the girls were abducted.Slowly and with tears in his eyes, he flicked through a file in which he had recorded the names and photographs of the girls. Not even the police and Army have managed to compile such detail he has amassed from talking to the parents of the kidnapped teenagers. The file has 185 pages — one for every girl. Each page has a photograph, and beside each passport-sized picture some stark facts — the girl’s name, her school grade and the date of abduction."

Father of 4 caught on Live TV exchanging number with Brazillian girl denies Flirting

article-2662232-1EE2665700000578-996_634x463

An England fan who was caught on TV apparently flirting with a Brazilian woman at the World Cup has denied he was 'chatting her up'.

Carl Wenz was at England's opening match with Italy on Saturday when TV cameras filmed him holding a mobile phone as he spoke to a female Brazilian fan.

Mr Wenz, who has four children with his long-term partner Nicola Moore and lives in Harlow, Essex, was seen wearing an England strip as he chatted to a woman in a blue and yellow Brazil t-shirt.

He told the Harlow Star: 'The girl in the photo asked if she could have a picture taken with me, of which I said yes, her brother took the photo and I am seen looking at it on her phone.'

Jonathan Greig, a friend of Mr Wenz's, said he spoke to him after the game and he insisted he was simply showing the Brazilian fan a photo on his mobile phone.

Mr Greig said: 'He's an old fashioned person and this would only happen to someone like him. He's in a long-term relationship and would consider the interest generated by the picture hilarious.'

Now ladies if this happened to your partner what will you do?as in!!!!

Dear girl.. Its time to become a woman..don’t let any man manipulate your mind into accepting mediocrity..booty calls can only take you so far cos when its late at night and you need someone to talk to.. You will then realise you need a real man.. Not a boy. I am of the opinion that a man never truly appreciates what he never worked for.. A man will cherish what he nurtures.

Don’t feel special when that bbm/whatsapp message comes through…Me thinks they scroll down the list and ponder “who can i funk with tonight” and probably send the same message to like three chics seeing who the olodo is that will take em seriously. Its harder now to sift the roses from the weeds..

Whatever gives flow with someone who actually deserves you. While im at it.. Those saying they want a good man… Pls work on urselves too.. Being a good woman is work in progress.. There’s always more to learn.#totalwoman #truth #learning #sharing

Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has said that Osaze Odemwingie who came in during the second half of the game did not follow his instructions during Nigeria's goalless draw against Iran on Monday.

He told BBC World Service, "The Osaze you are talking about didn't do well. Osaze did not play to instruction and that affected the team. We expected three points from this game but everybody knows the most important game is between ourselves and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Next game I think will be easier and I think that will be the decider of where we will be at this World Cup."

I told Kefee about her death - Ara

10464409_10152338788923409_310137729410516467_n

Nigerian female talking drummer, Ara,friend to late Kefee, says she had a dream concerning Kefee’s death and that she had called the late singer to pray hard to avert it.
Vanguard Reports:

“I want to use this forum to appeal to my colleagues in the music industry. Less than two years ago, I had a dream about Keffee and immediately called her and narrated it to her, I also appealed to her not to make a joke of it….the rest is history.

Early this year, I had a dream and contacted Efe of NOW music as he’s the only one I could call and told him to please organise a forum for all musicians to assemble and pray against death amongst us (please confirm from Efe).

It’s sad we had to lose my girlfriend, sister and colleague…so sad. When a revelation comes like that, it means there is a way out. Once again, we need to come together as a body under one roof to rebuke and pray about this revelation I had early this year. Yes, we all have different sources of prayer but this is a prayer we all must observe together. I beg you all. I didn’t want to speak out but I have no choice than to”.

Dr Gary Hartstein attacked Schumacher's management over what he considers 'triumphal' claims, saying it was 'not news', and branding the announcement 'highly cynical' and 'almost certainly false'.

Schumacher was yesterday transferred from Grenoble University Hospital in France, to a rehabilitation clinic in the Swiss city of Lausanne, where he is said to be responding to voices - particularly that of his wife Corinna.

Must Read! Late Kefee's Controversial Childhood and how she Struggled to Live

kef

Found this article on Osun defender and I felt like sharing on my blog.quite a can of worms though but I cannot confirm everything except that I know her frist and second husband used to be friends, thats all. Read below and let me know your thoughts

Unknown to many, growing up, Kefee was surrounded with controversies. One of the biggest controversy that trailed her was her illicit affair with her Choir mate and Choir Master, Alec Godwin. At that early age, she became a major topic for discussion among her peers and fellow youths.

The youths in the Church were said to have gossiped about her alleged rough lifestyle even as the daughter of a Deacon.

Her relationship with Godwin allegedly resulted into an early pregnancy which we heard was later aborted.

GALLOPY MARITAL LIFE
Like a Phoenix, Kefee stood out among her contemporaries but not without some challenges as well. Her first marriage to Alec Godwin, a Choir Master during her days as a Choir Mistress in the Church can simply be described as ‘gallopy’. The marriage was shrouded in allegations of infidelity and battery. After several attempts to save the marriage, it eventually ended amidst controversy.

HER NEW MARRIAGE
Before the end of her first marriage, her ex-husband, Alec Godwin had accused her of cheating on him with her friends and shortly after her first marriage crumbled, Kefee without any heart feelings entered into a relationship with her ex-husband’s friend, Teddy Esosa Don Momoh.

The rumour was being discussed in hush tones until it became a reality when they both wedded secretly in 2012. Kefee seemed happy with Teddy that she sang his praises amongst her friends and opened up to them that she was indeed enjoying her second marriage. Even in death Teddy stood by and she reportedly breathed her last in his arms.

HOW SHE STRUGGLED TO LIVE
The soul lifting singer reportedly fell into a coma inside a flight to Chicago in the United States of America, where she was making videos amongst other things. The plane was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing and she was eventually rushed into the Intensive Care Unit of an hospital in Los Angeles. For 15 days, Kefee battled with death. An eye witness account states that she struggled to live but bowed out in death at the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2014 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas NV, when her heartbeat stopped naturally.

HOW THE NEWS OF HER DEATH HIT TOWN
The news of Kefee’s death was first announced to the Nigerian community in Las Vegas, by the president of the Nigerian Association, Mr. Festus Ebonka.
He appealed to all well meaning Nigerians to help the family take the remains of the Kokoroko crooner back home as at that time, her Husband was said to be devastated and not ready to speak.

Shortly after social media went on fire with outpour of condolences from friends, colleagues and her fans.
WHAT HER MOTHER SAID ABOUT HER
Kefee, according to her mother, Mrs. Obareki, at a celebrity show organised for mothers in 2012, reportedly went into coma when she was a child and did not wake up until after six days.
In her recollection of the trials and tribulations of the past, which combined to make Kefee a strong personality and a musical force, the older Obareki recalled that she went through a lot raising the late singer and her other siblings.

“Kefee almost lost her life years back while growing up. As a devout Christian, the family was to fast every Friday.

Then, one day, Kefee slumped and was unconscious for six days,” she recalled.
Considering the fact that she had lost a child before, Mrs. Obareki could not bear the pain of losing another one, and definitely not Kefee.

“I would roll on the ground, crying and praying that God should restore my child to good health,” Mrs. Obareki told Supermom Celebrity Show.

HER UNFULFILED DREAMS
Kefee and Teddy had previously obtained diplomas in filmmaking from the U.S. and had started off on some projects together. No doubt, one of her biggest dreams which she would have seen come to pass was to develop her career in film making. According to a friend of hers,

“Kefee would have loved to live her dream of becoming a film maker and cinematographer but for her untimely death”.

Kefee who got married to Teddy in 2012 was yet to bear a child, she would have loved to bear children for her husband whom she countless of times described as “beautiful”.

Her Branama Kitchen at Maryland, Lagos was still a new project, she would have also loved to see Branama Kitchen taking over from other quick service restaurants in town.

While away, Kefee was said to be working on her next album after the release of her newest single, “Dem GO Talk”, she would have also loved to witness the release of her next album which would have probably superseded her previous efforts. Those were among the unfulfilled dreams Kefee took to her early grave.

SHE WAS NOT PREGNANT
Contrary to reports in the media that she went into coma with six months pregnancy, a statement from her United Kingdom manager, Adeline Adelicious Adebayo reads, ““On behalf of the family, It is with a great sadness but grateful hearts that we announce the passing to glory due to lungs failure this morning of our God’s mouth piece, chorus leader, daughter, wife, sister, friend, Kefee, Branama Queen …

May her beautiful, gentle and precious soul rest in perfect peace. AMEN!!! PS: In contrast to all earlier rumours and stories in circulation, I do state that Kefee wasn’t 6 months pregnant and neither did she have Pre-Eclampsia.” Take note of the corrections PLS.
Going by the statement from Adeline, it is accurate to say that Kefee wasn’t pregnant as rumoured.

…AND KEFEE TRENDED
Micro blogging, social media platform, twitter was on fire. Eulogies poured in endlessly from left right and center from colleagues, lovers, fans and well wishers.

As you may know, it takes a lot to trend on the twitter platform, but few minutes after the news of her death broke on social media, Kefee began to trend on twitter. But for the World Cup, it would have probably trended for the whole day.

Two Traders to Face Trial for Tearing a Policeman Uniform

soldiers-police-clash06-448x336

Police in Abuja on Friday arraigned two traders before an Abuja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting a policeman and tearing his uniform at Kubwa, in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
Kafiyebi Tosin and Majeed Akinopo of Byazhin Across, Kubwa were charged with criminal force and assault, an offence contrary to Section 265 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Lukas Ephraim, told the court that a Police Constable, John Modestus, at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kubwa Area Command, Abuja, on July 11, complained at the Kubwa Police Station of how the accused, on same date, hit him and one Adikwu, who were on a motorcycle with their Toyota Camry car, which they drove in a reckless manner.

He said when the accused were accosted on why they should act in that manner without showing concern, they assaulted the police officer and tore his uniform.
When the one-count- charge was read to the accused, they pleaded not guilty and the prosecutor asked for a date for hearing.

Magistrate Elizabeth Wonni granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reasonable sureties in like sum, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to July 7 for hearing.

HIV Patients To Protest Over Neglect

People living with HIV/AIDS in the FCT have declared a two-day fasting and prayer and issued a one-week ultimatum to the FCT Administration until the Project Manager of FCT Agency for the Control of AIDS (FACA), Dr. Uche Okoro, is removed from office and replaced with someone who can feel their pulse.

Coordinator of Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), John Okene, who addressed journalists at the end of a meeting of coordinators of support groups of people living with HIV/AIDS in Kubwa, Abuja, alleged that Dr. Okoro was responsible for sending their members to their early graves due to lack of care and support.

He said members of his group whom, he said, will embark on mass protest at the end of the ultimatum, are also calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to, as a matter of urgency, investigate alleged misuse of funds from the World Bank to support HIV/AIDS intervention in the FCT.

Okene said PLWHA members are also demanding the constitution of a FACA management board with immediate effect with NEPWHAN FCT represented to take part in decision making as it affects implementation of HIV/AIDS projects in the FCT.
When contacted for comments, Dr Okoro said funding of NEPWHAN activities is a privilege and not a right which has been overused by members.

He said FCTA, in view of its limited resources, has decided to stop further sponsorship of NEPWHAN and some other NGOs operating in the FCT, a move, he said, that has since been communicated to NEPWHAN via a letter from the office of the Permanent Secretary dated June 13, 2014.

Expect More Rain and Thunderstorms- Lagos State Warns

Lagos-State-Commissioner-for-Environment-Tunji-Bello-360x225

The Lagos State Government has alerted residents to coming downpours which will be accompanied with occasional thunderstorm.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, who gave the alert in a statement on Sunday, added that there would also be occasional flash flood on some roads around the state.

He, however, urged the residents not to panic, saying it was normal to have water on the road whenever it rained consistently in a city like Lagos.

He advised residents to stay off the roads when they did not have a serious cause to go out in order not to be caught in a gridlock.

Bello said, “Whenever it rains heavily across the state, there is a rise in the Lagoon and ocean, which automatically locks up all the canals in the state. When the water in the ocean and Lagoon recedes, our canals will discharge into these water bodies.

“The after effect is that it takes a long time before water discharges into the Lagoon as well as the time it eliminates all backflows.

“However, it is pertinent to explain that water on the road after continuous rainfall is not flooding, but flash flood, which will definitely disappear in a matter of time because our canals are already functional.

“Lagosians are advised not to panic, but go about their business activities as our canals are regularly cleaned and maintained to contain storm water generated during the rains.

“But we advise our people, if possible, to stay off the roads when they don’t have a very serious cause to do so, in order not to be caught in the after-rain gridlock.”

The commissioner assured residents that drainage engineers and attendants were working to ensure that canals were regularly cleaned and maintained in order to free them from all blockages.

He added that the government was prepared, saying it would regularly inform residents of weather patterns, and whenever the need arises, “for people in the flood plain areas to relocate.”

Bello also urged the community development associations and resident associations to relate with engineers in the 57 councils whenever the need arose

A week after Abduction,Kidnappers Still Demand N150M for Two Sisters

[three_fourth]The-abducted-sisters

Seven days after some suspected robbers kidnapped two sisters from their residence in Karmo, Abuja, family members say the kidnappers are still insisting on collecting N150m ransom to release the ladies.

A relative, Mr. Amade Opaluwa, said the family had not left a stone unturned to make sure that the victims return home safe and sound, but added that the kidnappers seemed unwilling to negotiate the ransom.

Amade, who is an uncle to the abducted sisters, told our correspondent on the telephone on Sunday that the kidnappers were becoming impatient and harsh in their discussions with the family.

He said, “The kidnappers have become very harsh lately in their conversations with the family. They are still insisting on the N150m ransom. Unfortunately, they do not allow us to talk to the girls. And also, we are not able to call them on the telephones, only they can call us.”

He called on Nigerians to intensify prayers on behalf of the family for the safe release of their daughters, adding that the family was also relying on God’s intervention.

“I use this opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians to help us with prayer. What we need is constant prayers for the safe release of our sisters. Everybody is getting increasingly worried,” Amade said.

PUNCH Metro had reported on Tuesday, June 10, that the two sisters, Ejura and Unekwu Opaluwa, who were 23 and 19 years respectively, were kidnapped in the evening of Sunday, June 8.

The victims’ father, Samson, is a director of the Federal Ministry of Work.

The suspected gunmen had made away with the two ladies after they had raided the entire house and dispossessed the family of their valuables.

The attackers were said to have left with the two girls when they did not get as much money as they expected. The family had reported the case at the Life Camp Police Division in Abuja.

When contacted, the Abuja Police Public Relations Officer, Altine Daniel, said the police were still going on with their investigations.

“Like I told you, we are still working on it. And if there are any updates, we will let you know,” she said.

On Lagos Island,Prostitutes have Sex Standing

Sex-spot-360x314

Bros, how far? You wan f***ck?” Those were the magic words; the phrase has become the trade call of the ladies of the night who line the walkways from Tinubu Street through Kakawa Street onto Broad Street on Lagos Island at night.

Thus, it wasn’t surprising when a medium height young lady, dressed in skimpy black tank top and a pair of bum shorts moved close to our correspondent as she swayed her hips in an exaggerated manner that night. She immediately offered her service. He was a potential patron, she probably thought.

Located close to many banks which dot the vicinity, the sex spot does not look luxurious. But it is not likely that a conscious person would miss the kind of trade that goes on in the area.

Women of varying sizes, complexion and heights – as young as 19 and as old as 35 years, and marked out by their heavily made up faces, ‘patrol’ the streets.

Every passing man, who spares them a short glance, either gets a lavish seductive look in return or the trade call.

At this point, it is left for the man to either look away, take a second look or consider the invitation.

Curious as to how and where these ladies actually service their patrons, our correspondent approached one of them and asked how much her service would cost.

When our correspondent approached, three of the ladies jumped to their feet to advertise their goods. Two seemed to be in their late 30s, fair in complexion and voluptuous.

A young lad in his late 20s was also seen beside the three commercial sex workers positing as some sort of guard for the girls against anyone that may want to take advantage of them.

When the chosen one, who identified herself as Chioma, led our correspondent to a corner off the rough passage, she stopped suddenly and entered a shack.

Like a blow, a strong stench emanating from the small, empty room hit our correspondent. The shack was a room faintly lit by the reflection of the streetlights outside. The shack was outright repulsive. The small room neither had a floor nor ceiling, not to talk of a bed, bench, or any object that could make one slightly comfortable. The ‘room’ was also open as there was no door.

When asked where the ‘action’ would take place, Chioma said, “It is inside this room now, where you wan make we go again? We dey do am here, no be today.”

Asked how much she charged, Chioma said N1,000. Despite bargaining, she insisted on the amount. When asked if the price could come down if there was no actual sex but just fondling, she angrily said, ‘No o, I no dey romance. Wetin I wan take romance do? Abeg f***ck if you wan f***ck, na only f***ck we dey do for here.’

However, when our correspondent asked if she would accept the same N1,000 for the fondling, she became impatient and attempted to storm out of the door-less ‘room.’ On further persuasion, she reluctantly said that the N1,000 was the standard price and that they do only actual sex and nothing less, and it was payment before service.

It came as a shock to her when our correspondent asked for the bed on which the fun would take place. She said they usually have sex with men while standing thus there would be no need for a bed or bench as none was available. In her words, “Bed or wetin? Na as we dey so we dey do am. No time.”

During the day, these streets are busy with commercial activities but they take on a totally different outlook at night.

When our correspondent visited the place one morning, a food joint, otherwise called mama put, operates at the spot.

With the thousands of traders who parade Tinubu Street in the day, a stranger may not be able to imagine the other side of commercial activities that take place there at night.

Our correspondent observed that as business activities round off from 8pm the commercial sex workers convert some of the wooden sheds used by traders during the day to their own stand and get set for work.

When our correspondent visited the place around 8pm on Tuesday, there was no sign that anything out of the ordinary occurred there as people were still moving around.

The spot where the sex business takes place shares premises with a football-viewing centre and it is located in a discreet corner. Only a closer look at the place or those who are familiar with the ‘night business’ that take place there would be able to identify the commercial sex workers as they take positions under the traders’ sheds.

The visit turned out to be a revelation that commercial sex hawking has taken on a new dimension. Here in the heart of Lagos, patrons buy ‘quickie’ without a bench, mattress or any form of luxury.

Ironically, sex here does not come cheap in spite of its location and the lack of luxury.

Interestingly, there was an old man, a taxi driver and an old woman, a trader who sat in front of the premises of the sex spot, both in their 60s, and they seemed unconcerned about the happenings in their surroundings as they appeared carried away with their discussion.

When our correspondent approached some traders who were closing their shops and some company security men on the street for comments, some of them claimed ignorance while some said they were aware.

Chidi, a trader who sells clothes close to the spot, said, “This place is a very busy place, both in the morning and evening, so I am not aware if there is any such thing happening there.”

A security personnel attached to one of the companies around the spot, who craved anonymity for fear of being humiliated, said the ladies had been operating there for some time. “They have been there for some time now, but anyone who does not know that such things happen there may not easily notice them, because most of them stay under the shade. They make their money because guys patronise them. You know it’s quickie, so it’s fast.”

Another trader, Obinna, said he knew some ladies usually come there at night but that it meant nothing to him. “As long as they don’t disturb me, they should continue. They have been there for some time now, so it’s not new to me, personally.”

Gone are the days when commercial sex workers stayed in brothels while waiting for their clients. At first, Allen Avenue was known as headquarters of these young ladies in Lagos State but slowly and gradually, they began to expand their coast to places like Ikeja GRA, Agege, Obalende, National Stadium at Surulere, Iyana-Ipaja and Lagos Island.

From 9pm, when one takes a drive on Allen Avenue, these girls would make seductive gestures trying to lure men to come to them. They make statements like, “Hey gorgeous, do you like what you see?”

However, these girls normally have a place where they take their clients to ‘service’ them. If it is for ‘short time,’ there is always a building around where they do their business. Most times, they would rather opt for ‘TDB’ – Till Day Breaks – because of convenience.

When our correspondent insisted that it had to be on the bed or at least a bench, Chioma hissed irritatingly. When asked how much she would charge if she had to be taken out of the area, she gave a long hiss again and said, “shey na you wey no fit f***ck for here go fit carry person comot?” Then she stormed out of the room in anger and went back to her colleagues outside.

While leaving the squalid environment, Chioma was overheard telling her colleagues that it was a mere waste of her time. “No mind the yeye guy, na romance him want, him talk say him no dey f***ck,” she said.

When our correspondent left the premises and observed from a distance, two young men went in one after the other at few minutes intervals, nothing less could be expected since it was a quickie.

During the visit to Lagos Island, a lot of activities involving parades and calling out to customers was also noticed on Simpson Street where as usual, the ladies of the night were seen dressed in short, skimpy and see-through apparels.

Of course, this corroborates the daring disposition of the commercial sex workers and the rapid expansion of the business. But the sex-while-standing on the island seems like a new development. Here, the commercial sex workers meet the needs of their customers who want a quickie whilst saving time.

As the commercial sex business continues to grow, a visit by our correspondent to a popular street inside the Iyana-Ipaja main market revealed that the timing of the business could easily pass for a civil service job.

As early as 4am, workers have resumed at the old, unpainted storey building, located at the heart of the market. Early in the morning and late at night, the sex workers stay in front of the building calling on potential customers and some passers-by who look in their direction.

When our correspondent entered through the small door that opens into a reception-like space inside the building, he met about seven women who displayed their products, showcasing what made them peculiar.

Of particular interest was a lady who was fanning herself while sweating profusely, and when she was asked by one of her colleagues why she was sweating profusely, she said, “na f***ck o, no mind me, the guy wan kill me.”

The one picked by our correspondent said the price had to be negotiated before they went into her room. She said ‘quickie,’ which means the fastest form of sexual intercourse that does not take time, costs N1,500. After serious bargaining, she agreed to collect N1,200 which was above what our correspondent offered to pay.

Since she could not agree with the price offered by our correspondent, another worker, who identified herself as Odi, offered to collect N1,000 which she said, was the standard price, but she was open to options when asked about the option of romance. Odi said, “If you want only romance, I can take N700 but I would be the one in charge and you would pay before service. If it is just to allow you ‘come,’ I can manage N700.”

There was a bar inside the building where men and women drink while the operator played music, blaring through the loud speakers and the spot is self -introducing at such hour due to the loud music. For an unsuspecting visitor, the place could pass for a bar, but each of the sex workers has a room upstairs where they attend to their guests with no interference from others.

However, the rapid growth in the business of commercial sex has forced some businesses to recognise the potential of money-making in it.

These days, most bars now have girls on display as they have drinks. And the girls are also offered to customers who are interested and willing to pay.

Boy rescued from Kidnappers Den in Ogun

kidnappers’-den-in-Ogun-360x270

Fate smiled on an unidentified young boy hawking on Alhaji Jamiu Sulaimon Street in Itele, Ota area of Ogun State on Tuesday evening as he was rescued from kidnappers in the area, just as he was about to be killed.

No 3, Alhaji Jamiu Sulaimon, where the boy was rescued is unarguably one of the most beautiful houses on the street but no one could have imagined the horror discovered behind its high walls.

When our correspondent visited the scene on Wednesday morning, a police patrol vehicle was stationed in front of the compound to ward off curious residents and looters.

Upon gaining access to the house, it did not take long for our correspondent to notice a spatter of blood on the walls of almost all the toilets in the house. One particular toilet had more heavy smears of blood on its walls and door.

A resident of the street, Abdulateef Isa, told our correspondent that the rescued boy used to hawk belts on the street.

Isa said, “The boy is Igbo, he sells belts and he is known by many in this area even though we don’t really know his name.

“He was hawking with his friend yesterday (Tuesday) before this whole issue came to light. His friend, who is also an Igbo boy, knew when he was called into the compound but when he waited for more than 30 minutes and his friend had not come out, he raised the alarm.”

A police officer from the Itele Police Division told our correspondent that residents of the area came to the station to report on Tuesday evening that a boy who went into a compound to sell had gone missing.

“Our divisional police officer instantly issued a search warrant and detached a team to the compound. When we got there, a large number of residents had gathered and we had to be strategic in controlling them for us to gain access.

“We got there and met a young man who said he was the brother of the owner of the house. He started opening each of the rooms, acting calm and repeating that, ‘See for yourself, each room is empty.’

“But our DPO insisted that she perceived an odour that was abnormal. She asked one of us to climb through a window and check the corner of a toilet. And there was the boy, covered in blood. He was even too weak to shout.

“From the look of things, the kidnappers had already attempted to kill the boy but hurriedly abandoned him and fled because the victim’s friend raised the alarm. The man we arrested must have been given order to stay behind and divert suspicion.”

The boy was said to have been blinded in one eye as caked blood covered one of his eye sockets. There was a bloody deep gash on his neck also, which was suspected to have come from an attempt to slaughter him.

Our correspondent learnt that the boy was immediately rushed to the hospital while the man found in the house was arrested. The agent in charge of the house was also later arrested.

Few minutes after the police left the compound, the residents set the house ablaze and every valuable in the house was destroyed.

When our correspondent visited Itele, the police could not reveal the hospital where the boy was receiving treatment for security reasons, while the names of the arrested suspects were withheld.

A four-bedroom bungalow, painted in and out with fancy paint, it was clear the house was built by a wealthy person.

Residents said the house was completed about three years ago.

“The generator in this house runs all day long,” one resident told our correspondent.

The fence around the house is the highest in the area. According to our correspondent’s measurement, it is approximately eight feet tall, a reason neighbours said it was not possible to see whatever went on in the compound.

“The men we see coming in and going out of the house keep to themselves. All we know is that so many people come into the house. Nobody has gone missing on this street before, so nobody had any reason to suspect anything,” Mr. Olusegun Adio, who lives a few houses down the street, told our correspondent.

One of the leaders of the community, Alhaji Isa Jimoh, who notified the police about the missing boy, said he never had any inkling that kidnappers could be operating a den in the area.

Jimoh, who lives about seven houses away from the horror house, said, “I have no idea who owns that house and I have no idea when it was built. The short time it was built from start to finish, I was not around then.

“When I got report that a child who was hawking and called inside the compound never came out, I had to inform the police because I realised it was not the duty of residents to storm the place.

“The first time the police came, the place was under lock and key. They went back to their office and when they came back, they broke the gate, arrested a man inside there and discovered the boy almost dead on the floor of one of the toilets.”

Jimoh said no one had ever been missing in the area, which was why they probably did not suspect any criminal activity in the house.

Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspects arrested in the case have been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

He said, “Our men from the Itele Division moved in as soon as they got a report about the house suspected to be used by kidnappers and succeeded in rescuing the boy alive even though he was in bad shape.

“The boy will pull through as he is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. In the meantime, the Comissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case. Efforts are being made to apprehend other accomplices who fled the house. This is just an evidence of our determination to stamp out criminality in this state.”

Pastor and Wife Talks Dirty as Court dissolves Marriage

An Orile-Agege Customary Court in Lagos, yesterday, dissolved the 20-year-old marriage of a pastor, who had accused his wife of infidelity and threat to his life.

Pastor Sunday Owonikoko,51, had filed a petition at the court on May 27, saying he could no longer continue with his wife, Bolajoko, 47.

Ruling in the case, court president, Mr Joseph Adewusi, said the marriage has broken down irretrievably.

His words: “Starting from today, you cease to be addressed as husband and wife; you shall go your separate ways and maintain the peace.

“The custody of the under-aged among the children is referred to Ikeja Family Court for final decision, but in the interim, the children should remain with the petitioner.

“The petitioner, Pastor Sunday Owonikoko, should pay a compensation fee of N25,000 to the defendant and also secure accommodation for her.”

My wife still sees her ex

According to reports the pastor, who lives at 1, Alowole St., Papa Ashafa, Orile-Agege, had told the court that his wife was still seeing her ex-lovers.

“My wife once travelled to Ghana to meet one of her concubines. She did family planning without my consent and she goes out at will.

“She was suspended from the church for six months because she fought all ministers in the church. She then established her church, she fought all the members of the church, and they all left.”

The father of four children, aged between 19 years and 11 years, had also told the court that his wife threatened to destroy him and the church.

“I want the court to dissolve the union and grant me custody of my children,” he had said.

Bolajoko, an evangelist, had, however, denied the allegations in her response.

My husband is adulterous

She said: “My husband is adulterous. He has slept with almost all the sisters in the church. A mother of seven is presently living with himand he has made the woman an evangelist.“

Bolajoko told the court that her husband had “lost his mind” since he ate vegetable soup in the house of one of the sisters in the church. I don’t love him anymore, I want a divorce.”

Husband, wife trade blame on infidelity

Also yesterday, a couple, Muyideen and Simbiat Saula, urged an Ikorodu Customary Court, Lagos, to dissolve their marriage, accusing each other of infidelity.

Simbiat, 27, a trader who resides at Fajemisi St., Kokoro Abu, Ikorodu, had earlier told the court that Muyideen beats her regularly, adding that she was tired of his infidelity.

She said: “My husband beats me whenever I make mistakes; he had battered me to the extent that I had two miscarriages.

“He usually beats me to the extent that he would tear my clothes to pieces. I have also heard him receive calls from different women. I am no more interested in the marriage.“

Muyideen, 40, a businessman, in turn accused his wife of receiving strange calls from different men in the midnight.

He said: “My wife receives calls from concubines which her mother knows about. She opened a Facebook account to chat with her concubines; she has also installed a security code on her phone, so that I would not have access to it.

“I am also no more interested in the marriage because her mother came to pack her belongings,“ he said.
